Learning for a lifetime! Yes, at Montessori schools, that means extra-curricular activities that stimulate both the mind and body. During the elementary years, your child should be experiencing a wide range of activities both inside and outside the classroom. Within the classrooms, the core subjects are covered to create a basis for making future judgments. Physical Education is to keep the body and mind strong and flexible. Art, Music and Language bring beauty and cultural understanding into our student’s lives.
We feel one of our other tasks is to help students find a passion through extra-curricular activities. Some of the physical activities we provide are: Basketball, both recreational and competitive, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, Swimming, Track, and Pep Squad.
I’d like to share a story about a student that was never going to be a star in basketball or football. You know, the student that is always the last one chosen for the team… However, he found his niche in bowling, he excelled at that particular sport which bolstered his self-esteem. Finally, he was “the best” at something.
We know the brain works best when movement is involved. Our after-school fun doesn’t leave the brain out either! We offer: Chess, Lego Robotics, Chorus, Stackers and Brownies.
Remember, if your child has a beneficial outside interest before he heads to Junior High, one in which his extra time can be spent, then this interest can carry him through the most awkward times in a child’s life.
