Our students and families collected pet supplies, food and toys for local pets that will be donated to the Humane Society of South Brevard this holiday season. On Monday, December 1st parents and children loaded up the vans with pet supplies, food and toys. The children also sang our school song before loading up the vans. The Indian Harbour Montessori Makos 4-H Club recently participated in the "Art on a Rain Barrel Contest" UCF-IFAS extension--Brevard Co. Fair, with their project titled "Indian River Lagoon". Peace Day, which is often referred to formally as United Nations Day, is observed every year in October. Another occasion that is celebrated in October is International Children's Day, which is celebrated during the last week of October. This holiday was originally created by UNICEF to celebrate our cultural diversity and ethnic heritage. Dear Parents, The Barnes & Noble Book Fair begins in just a few days. Please make sure you bring the attached VOUCHER with you. There will be many activities for the children, as well as adult book tables. Don't forget to register at our "Greeting" table. There also will be a poetry reading by several teachers after 6:30 p.m. in the children's section. Please invite your family, friends and neighbors. Vouchers will be available at the greeting table. Indian Harbour Montessori's Running Club participates in the Running Zone’s Race Series consisting of 7 races throughout the year. The school team challenge is open to all elementary and middle schools. IHM competes with elementary schools five times larger or more, some races have over 1200 runners! IHM has entered this series for the past three years. We have won the 1st Place Team Award for each of the three years. Brevard Teacher of the Month Award Indian Harbour Montessori's, Mrs. Theresa Trawick was recently named Lite Rock 99.3's "Teacher of the Month". Mrs. Trawick will receive a spa treatment at Essentials Spa & Salon and a Papa John’s pizza party for her entire class. Congratulations, Mrs. Theresa Trawick!
Former Indian Harbour Montessori student, Rachel Schur has been performing with the national professional tour of "Jersey Boys," the much ballyhooed, Tony Award-winning musical about the 1960s musical group The Four Seasons, for the past two years. Rachel, who graduated from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy after attending IHM, is one of three women in the show and has 19 roles, including that of Francine, daughter of lead crooner Frankie Valli.
