4-H/Tropicana Public Speaking Contest Florida 4-H is very proud of the 4-H/Tropicana Public Speaking Contest. Working with youth in grades 4-6, this contest helps thousands of young people annually learn how to write and deliver a speech. More than 150,000 young people in over 50 Florida counties in grades 4-6 participated in the contest on an annual basis. IHM Students Raise Money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

During the month of February our elementary students participated in a fundraising drive to help find a cure for Leukemia & Lymphoma. Our goal was to reach $1,000.00. Not only did we reach our goal, but we exceeded it raising $1,053.91. Also, the class with the top average participated in a spaghetti lunch from Olive Garden. Indian Harbour Montessori sixth grader, Avery B. has qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee! The Florida State Geographic Bee will be held at Jacksonville University on Friday, April 1, 2016. Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. Both Girls & Boys Basketball Teams Win 1st Place

Both of our competitive girls and boys basketball teams won first place in their tournaments this past weekend! Through dedication, great coaching, good sportsmanship, and the desire to do their best as a team, this was accomplished. Indian Harbour Montessori swept the competitive sports in their division this year including volleyball, flag football and now both competitive basketball teams. A special acknowledgement and thanks to all of our coaches and Mrs. Naugle for their commitment to our students and great athletics. Congratulations students! Go Makos!

Jonathan Wood from The Raptor Project visited Indian Harbour Montessori on Friday, January 15th. The children listened as Jonathan and his wife Susan and their avian predators, discussed conservation, as well as how the birds are ambassadors for their habitat. If the raptors are doing well, everyone else is in good shape. Indian Harbour Montessori was his first stop in Brevard County as he visits several different venues throughout the area this month. Indian Harbour Montessori parents and staff donated over 150 pairs of pajamas to the Brevard Family Partnership, they will also receive that many books from Scholastic. Our art teacher, Heather Everett created a snowman photo booth out of a box for our students & parents to enjoy after our Winter Program. It was donated after the children's Christmas party that Brevard Family Partnership hosted. We were also able to provide over 300 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped out so many this holiday season!
