Peace Day, which is often referred to formally as United Nations Day, is observed every year in October. Another occasion that is celebrated in October is International Children’s Day, which is celebrated during the last week of October. This holiday was originally created by UNICEF to celebrate our cultural diversity and ethnic heritage. This year, all pre-primary classes (Rooms 1, 2, and 3) celebrated both United Nations Day and International Children’s Day on October 23rd. Alumni Spotlight: Justin Dougherty

Justin Dougherty, IHM Class of 2003 Justin attended Indian Harbour Montessori through 6th grade. After attending IHM he went on to graduate from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, where he played lacrosse, football and was involved in orchestra. After High School he attended the Coast Guard Academy, where he was on the dean's list five semesters and received the board of trustee's award. He graduated with a degree in naval architecture and marine engineering. Justin then went into pilot training at Naval Air Station Pensacola. On Friday, April 18th at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station he will receive his Wings of Gold. [...]

Music All Around This World

Indian Harbour Montessori 3rd & 4th grade students are currently studying a unit in Music called Music All Around This World. Each week, we travel to a new country in South America and learn about the culture and music of the people who call that country home. The first week we learned about the Cueca, the national dance of Chile. This week we traveled to Argentina and learned about the Tango. Each week we will learn a new step to add to our dance from around South America.

All children ages 3 years - 6th grade will participate in our Jimmy Sawgrass assembly in the gym. Parents & grandparents are invited and encouraged to join us for this educational, exciting presentation and demonstration. Friday, January 23, 2015 at 9:30 am There will be face painting, historical story telling, and traditional demonstrations in the gym. Elementary students will go to their playground area after the gym presentation for an Atlatl and musket demonstration. Our students and families collected pet supplies, food and toys for local pets that will be donated to the Humane Society of South Brevard this holiday season. On Monday, December 1st parents and children loaded up the vans with pet supplies, food and toys. The children also sang our school song before loading up the vans. IHM 4-H Club Participates in “Art on a Rain Barrel Contest”

The Indian Harbour Montessori Makos 4-H Club recently participated in the "Art on a Rain Barrel Contest" UCF-IFAS extension--Brevard Co. Fair, with their project titled "Indian River Lagoon".
