Hurricane Matthew: School Closing

We will be closing today Wednesday, October 5 at 3pm due to the mandatory evacuation of the barrier island starting at 3pm due to Hurricane Matthew. We will also be closed on Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7. We plan to reopen on Monday, October 10 and will send out a notification if we will be closed beyond that. IHM Student Qualifies for State Geo Bee

Indian Harbour Montessori sixth grader, Avery B. has qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee! The Florida State Geographic Bee will be held at Jacksonville University on Friday, April 1, 2016. Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Both Girls & Boys Basketball Teams Win 1st Place

Both of our competitive girls and boys basketball teams won first place in their tournaments this past weekend! Through dedication, great coaching, good sportsmanship, and the desire to do their best as a team, this was accomplished. Indian Harbour Montessori swept the competitive sports in their division this year including volleyball, flag football and now both competitive basketball teams. A special acknowledgement and thanks to all of our coaches and Mrs. Naugle for their commitment to our students and great athletics. Congratulations students! Go Makos!

Music All Around This World

Indian Harbour Montessori 3rd & 4th grade students are currently studying a unit in Music called Music All Around This World. Each week, we travel to a new country in South America and learn about the culture and music of the people who call that country home. The first week we learned about the Cueca, the national dance of Chile. This week we traveled to Argentina and learned about the Tango. Each week we will learn a new step to add to our dance from around South America.
